Deprivation of Liberties Courses are suitable for qualified and unqualified staff across health and social care disciplines e.g. care assistants, ward staff, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and social workers.
The Deprivation of Liberties Course is a combination of classroom based learning and also hands on practical instruction.
Successful candidates will gain Deprivation of Liberties Training Certification.
MCA & DOLS course aims to provide an overview of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 for those aged 16 years and over and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards for those aged 18 years and over and the implications they have for both the service user and service provider.
In regards to the Mental Capacity Act - Anyone in a caring capacity for those aged 16 and over and in regards to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards - Anyone in a caring capacity for those aged 18 and over.
The MCA & DOLS Training Course is a ½ day course, lasting 4hrs.
The course is assessed by a multiple choice assessment paper and/or oral or written answers to questions given within the session.
1 year. Refresher training for this course is available.
